Preventive Dentistry involves treatment that prevents oral health issues. The focus of preventive dentistry is to keep the teeth, gums and mouth as healthy as possible to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other issues.   

As there are certain things that only your dentist can do to help you maintain a healthy mouth, it is important to schedule regular check-up and cleaning appointments. We recommend a check-up and clean every six months, unless specified otherwise due to special circumstances.   

We provide the following services which help to maintain good oral health and prevent the need for more extensive restorative treatment later on:

Restorative Dentistry involves the dental specialties of Endodontics, Periodontics and Prosthodontics (fixed and removable), and its foundation is based upon the interaction of these specialties to treat cases which are affecting the teeth and its supporting structures.    

The focus of Restorative Dentistry is to work with other dental, medical and surgical specialists and other clinical colleagues, to provide and support the integrated management and oral rehabilitation of patients with complex treatment needs.

Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics is the specialty of dentistry that focuses on the alignment of the teeth and the dental arches: the maxilla and the mandible. The practice of this specialty includes diagnosis, prevention, interception, and correction of malocclusion and other abnormalities of the developing or mature orofacial structures.  

A number of our dentists have completed a two-year mini-residency in Orthodontics. One of those is our Principal dentist, who also has considerable other training and practical case experience in Orthodontics, working both in the private and hospital setting.

Our practice prefers to treat patients on an early intervention approach, so  it is recommended that children attend from an early age so that their development and treatment needs can be monitored.

Our focus is not only on aligning and straightening the teeth, but most importantly on the profile of the face.  
We manage various Orthodontic treatment needs incorporating:
- Fixed appliances using the Damon System
- Removable appliances
- Retainers to maintain the finished case
- Dentofacial orthopaedics/functional appliances are used to assist in bringing the jaws into the correct relationship

Surgical Dentistry is the specialty of dentistry which includes the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects involving both the functional and esthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.

Cosmetic Dentistry involves the enhancement of the appearance of the teeth, gums and bite. It focuses on improvement in colour, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance, which boosts confidence and self-esteem.   

With modern advances in dentistry, cosmetic procedures can range from a basic colour correction to replacing missing teeth, and everything in between.

For patients with severe anxiety or those requiring extensive dental surgery, we recommend Intravenous (IV) Sedation where the patient is under the influence of a sedative drug during treatment. 

Our practice has a long-established IV Sedation clinic that has been in operation since February 2009, and we have successfully treated many nervous patients over the years. Our Sedation dentist, Dr Minoo Vellani, is Dental Board of Australia registered in Conscious Sedation and Pain Control, and has many years of experience. He has worked with Gentle Dental Care since 2009. Working in a team alongside the patient's regular dentist and nursing staff, our patients are assured of always being in very capable hands.
